Most Memorable Moment at Camp: It's the Little Things

Trying to pick my most memorable moment from my time as a counselor is nearly impossible. When I think of my time at camp last summer, I see flashes of smiling campers, awesome co-workers, and crazy activities.

I would have to say, out of all of those memories, the ones that stand out the most are the simplest ones. My favorite memories were the times spent with my campers at rest period in the cabin making bracelets, singing our favorite Hannah Montana songs to the whole dining hall during snack, and hanging out together in the mornings in that period between duties and first period. These are the moments where I really get to know my campers and the campers get to know each other. It is amazing to see how comfortable we all get around each other by the end of the week! For the first day or two, most campers are reserved around girls they do not know, but by the end of the week, they are inseparable.

I had one specific cabin last summer where the new relationships that were built blew me away. I can truly say that I had a cabin of strangers at the beginning of the week and a cabin of best friends at the end. That is by far my favorite experience at camp. Growing together as a family with a group of awesome girls is an amazing experience that I have not been able to find anywhere else. It really is the little moments that make the biggest impact.
